2014 Ranger 1 2014 Ranger 2 2014 Ranger 3

What a nice way to start out the season with a new Ranger Z521C, powered by an Evinrude E-Tec 250 H.O.-Minnkota 112 Fourtrex trolling motor and Hummingbird 1199c and a 999c Electronics.

My first time out with the boat was on Lake Erie, helping with camera boat duties for the Cabelas NWT. We launched in Port Clinton, we then ran out to the northwest side of North Bass Island.  The wind was blowing about 15 mph out of the northwest, so it was a little rough.  I was surprised how much different the boat handled compared to the Z521 I had last year. It seemed to be a much drier ride. We watched the walleye tournament guys for a couple hours for TV footage.(kinda like watching grass grow)  In that time, the wave’s increased 3′ to 5′. I thought we were going to be in for a rough ride back to the ramp, but it wasn’t bad at all, we quartered the waves all the way back to the ramp and we were able to run about 45mph. That’s pretty good in 3’-5’waves. There is a couple of other features that this boat has that last year’s didn’t have like an adjustable driver’s seat and the fan for the rod locker to dry things out should you get any moisture in the compartments. This boat like the other tournament rigged Rangers have more than enough storage for all your tackle and other things, almost too much storage. (I forget where I put stuff) The Evinrude E-Tec 250 H.O. is the only engine I would choose. This engine is so strong it has no problem pushing the Z521c well over the 70mph mark. I went with the Grey motor this year, it’s really nice Evinrude gives you the choice of 3 engine colors. Later this season I will have a review of the Hummingbird electronics after I get a chance to use them a little more. This boat will be For Sale at the end of October, so if you might be interested just send me an email.
I picked the boat up at Rose Marine Service and Sales and if you live in Michigan or close and you are looking to purchase a Ranger you really need to visit their new 4000sq.ft. showroom and parts  department.
